The Hitavada Epaper 4.6.0

Established in 1911 by the late Shri Gopal Krishna Gokhale, The Hitavada has maintained its position as Central India's largest-selling English daily newspaper for several decades. As one of the oldest newspapers in India, it was originally launched to support the struggle for independence from foreign rule.

The turning point for The Hitavada came in late 1978 when Shri Banwarilal Purohit assumed management, taking over from Shri Vidya Charan Shukla, who led the Progressive Writers and Publishers. Under Purohit's stewardship, the publication underwent a significant revival, resulting in consistent growth and progress.

Today, The Hitavada publishes four editions: Nagpur, Jabalpur, Raipur, and a newer edition in Bhopal. The leadership team comprising Shri Banwarilal Purohit as Managing Editor, Shri Rajendra Purohit as Publisher, and Shri Vijay Phanshikar as Editor has contributed to the newspaper's resilience and success over the past three decades. As it celebrates its centenary year, The Hitavada remains committed to the ideals established by its founder, Shri Gopal Krishna Gokhale.
